Why Small Groups?

Small Groups are a great way to get connected and grow in your faith! Whether you’re new to the church and just want to meet some people, or have been around for a long time and want to grow in your faith, joining a small group could be just the thing that’s been missing for you.

We believe that spiritual growth happens best in the context of community and our desire is that everyone who comes to SLWC would be connected with other Christians, and with God’s Word.

There’s something unique that happens when people trying to head in the same direction with their faith come together to study the Bible, encourage each other, pray with each other, and do life together that doesn’t tend to happen anywhere else. As a church we strongly encourage people to join a small group because we know that it truly is a life-changing experience!

Still not convinced a Small Group is for you?

Perhaps your financial situation will compel you to take the next step. When was your last money fight? When was the last time you paid a bill late? Do you have a car loan, student loan or credit card? As part of our Generosity series, we are encouraging people to take a 13 week journey toward financial freedom and a life of generosity, by participating in small group classes walking through Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University.

Watch the introduction video to our Generosity series that begins September 12. Then check out a few of the Excuse Eliminators also posted on YouTube.

The fact is, 7 of 10 families live paycheck to paycheck, and many have serious financial stress.  Perhaps you have thought there is no hope in your situation, but there is.

In Financial Peace University you will learn how to communicate with your spouse about money, put together a spending plan that works, and completely eliminate debt. While completing the class, the average family pays off $5,300 in debt and saves $2,700 within 13 weeks. Classes begin the week of September 19.

Want to live life differently? Join us in a journey towards Generosity.

How do I get in a group?

There are several ways people get in small groups at our church:

  • Through a personal invitation

This is the best way for it to happen. Groups are all about relationships, so we ask our groups to be inviting people in to fill the open chair.

  • Sign-ups

From time to time, we have sign-ups on Sunday to make it as easy as possible to get in a group.

The Community Life Department is here to help you make connections like the small group one. We're committed to helping you get plugged in and involved.  Let us know if there's any way we can help along the way.
